SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE

TUTOR: In term two students will be taught classical drawing techniques by Troy Argyros and Experimental Drawing by Annemarie Murland. This is an excellent opportunity for both current students of Geoff Dupree and new students to experience some different and extremely valuable approaches to drawing. Geoff will be back in Term 3.

COURSE OUTLINE:

UNIT ONE: CLASSICAL DRAWING WITH TROY ARGYROS

In this unit students will learn the classical methodologies of using measurement to draw through pure observation.

UNIT TWO: EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING: PATHWAYS TO ABSTRACTION WITH ANNEMARIE MURLAND

Students will gain a deep understanding of drawing materials, textural approaches and contained expression in this unit.

TUTORS: We are delighted to offer students an opportunity to explore two four week units taught by Terry Jarvis and Annmarie Murland. COURSE OUTLINE:

UNIT ONE: WATERCOLOUR PAINTING WITH TERRY JARVIS

Terry Jarvis' clear and accessible methodologies using watercolour paints will offer you the opportunity to truly develop your understanding of this most challenging medium. Over this unit you will become competent at completing observed visual scenes and objects. Weather permitting, this unit will involve plein air painting (outdoor painting) at the beautiful adjacent park.

UNIT TWO: PAINTING ABSTRACTION - A MATERIAL ENQUIRY WITH ANNEMARIE MURLAND

This unit gives students the opportunity to develop an informed understanding about non representational painting and the necessary foundations that can make abstract imagery effective. Within this unit, students will also gain a thorough and valuable understanding of art materials including, running a green, solvent free studio.

TUTOR: Ben Howe is a highly accomplished photo realist with over 20 years of practice.

COURSE OUTLINE: This course is intended for students who have completed some introductory classes and wish to further develop their skills while working towards their individual practice. Each class will offer both a group project and/or individual mentored supervision.

SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

This program will run in term one and two and is available for beginner students to develop basic traditional art techniques that focus around figurative and realistic drawing and painting.
Taught by Troy Argyros, an emerging Melbourne realist, students will learn traditional Atelier techniques of creating complete images using the methods of great Master artists.
Throughout the term students will develop their classical practice through a series of studies on still life, landscapes, and the human figure.
Suitable for beginner or experienced artists who are interested in figurative realism and traditional classical drawing and painting techniques.

This ongoing program is available for beginner students and those who have attended our other beginner courses to develop basic art techniques that focus around figurative and realistic drawing and painting.
Taught by Ben Guy,, students will undergo a series of both guided and independent projects which will help them improve not only their ability to make art, but also aid the development of self expression and an understanding of art history and the role of art in life today.
This class is open to new students and is available over the four terms of 2017. Students are invited to do a single term, however, progress will be most noted when repeating attendance over the full year.
