SKILL LEVEL: Beginner/Intermediate

COURSE CONTENT: This eight week course is suitable for both beginner students who wish to develop basic traditional art techniques that focus around figurative and realistic drawing and painting, as well as more advanced students who wish to develop an individual project. Taught by Troy Argyros, an emerging Melbourne realist, students will learn traditional Atelier techniques of creating complete images using the methods of great Master artists.

THU 20/07/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Introduction to Classical Practice
In the first week of the term, students will receive an introduction to classical practice and an outline of the techniques that will be covered throughout the course. Working primarily with a still life set up, you are welcome to bring objects from home, or can alternatively use objects provided by the studio.
 
THU 27/07/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Landscapes
In this three week unit, students will choose from two colour palettes and weather permitting, will bring their materials to the beautiful park adjacent to the studio to develop a landscape painting on canvas.
 
THU 03/08/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Landscapes
In this three week unit, students will choose from two colour palettes and weather permitting, will bring their materials to the beautiful park adjacent to the studio to develop a landscape painting on canvas.
 
THU 10/08/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Landscapes
In this three week unit, students will choose from two colour palettes and weather permitting, will bring their materials to the beautiful park adjacent to the studio to develop a landscape painting on canvas.
 
THU 17/08/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Still Life
Students will further develop the techniques and principles introduced in the first class with a continuation of their still life studies.
 
THU 24/08/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Drawing from Life
In this concluding three week unit, students will have the opportunity to develop their figure and portrait drawing skills by studying a life model.
 
THU 31/08/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Drawing from Life
In this concluding three week unit, students will have the opportunity to develop their figure and portrait drawing skills by studying a life model.
 
THU 07/09/2017 10:00am-4:00pm Drawing from Life
In this concluding three week unit, students will have the opportunity to develop their figure and portrait drawing skills by studying a life model.

Please remember to wear old clothing and shoes to class as paints and other art materials may stain clothing.

Students are required to bring or purchase their own materials for this course. Material kits are available to purchase on this booking engine. Kits purchased through the school are priced with a 20% discount, and can be picked up at the beginning of the first class. If you do not require the full material kit, individual items can be purchased in person at the studio. Please contact our office if you need a material list emailed to you.
