Atelier Drawing with Troy Argyros
This drawing course will focus on structure, gesture and body type using simple and large shapes that address form and tone. Over an eight week period you will see marked improvement in your rendering skills, building towards a series of beautiful developed drawings. This course will use nude life models, and each class will have two poses during the day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Taught by Troy Argyros, a reputable upcoming artist who is currently extending his wide range of classical drawing and painting skills in Florence, Italy where he is undertaking further formal studies. A lover of traditional Atelier techniques, students of his classes see a rapid development in their ability to render realism in a rich and accurate manner.
Drawing & Painting Studio with Geoff Dupree
This course is open to experienced students and artists who wish to refine fundamental drawing and painting skills, such as the appropriate use of form and colour in the development of images. The subject matter throughout the term will include a variety of situations and compositional themes, including the human figure.
Taught by one of Melbourne's most respected and regarded tutors Geoff Dupree, who supports the school's commitment to empowering students and artists to develop skills that enable an independent art practice.
Portraiture & Realism with Ben Howe
Throughout the course students will have the opportunity to explore both traditional and contemporary oil painting techniques in order to create an original and accomplished portrait painting. Students will be guided through each step of the process from observation and composition, to drawing, tonal value, brush technique, colour preparation, glazing and more, with the scope for an individualised development of technique.
There are also a limited number of spaces for students that are advanced in their practice, who wish to develop an individual piece or body of work under Ben's mentorship.
Taught by Ben Howe, an accomplished photo realist with over 20 years experience as a practicing artist.
Abstract Painting with Brock Q. Piper
This course is appropriate for students who wish to explore art making processes that involve both figurative and non figurative elements with a focus on colour, texture, composition and content (meaning).
Taught by emerging Melbourne based artist Brock Q. Piper who has a passion and commitment to sharing his deep and rich knowledge with students that are keen to develop their creativity, and ability to produce works that contain both personal expression and artistic technique.
Introduction to Drawing & Painting with Roman Schoeni
This course is designed for beginner students who want to learn the very basics of drawing and painting techniques in an intuitive environment. While gaining an understanding of colour, composition, perspective and technique, this class also delves into a psychological realm of what drives humans toward the need to express the self through imagery.
This course is perfect for beginners who wish to discover their connection to visual expression, and is a gentle and joyful introduction to art making.
Taught by the highly regarded Swiss Abstraction artist and art therapist Roman Schoeni, who loves thinking outside of the box. Roman offers ideas and methods that include traditional art techniques, contemporary processes and therapeutic exercises to help students develop a rounded and holistic set of creative skills.
